You can add extra length for a hat that can be folded with a cuff. Double crochet in each stitch to make two rows. Crochet in the back stitch the next row to create a ridge. Crochet another row then repeat the dc in the back loos again. You'll create a nice thick hat with ridges. Simply close off the top with a drawstring and tie it securely inside of the hat.
