Finished Afghan for Christmas

After many setbacks, I finally got the afghan for my son finished.

I usually pick up a skein or two of yarn at a time (taking advantage of the 40% coupons from Hobby Lobby, of course!) and wouldn't you know that when I needed more to finish this, no one had the dark gray color. After a second trip to both Hobby Lobby and WalMart, I asked the manager at WalMart to see if they might have some in the back and lucky for me they did.

As if that weren't enough, I had to rip out 15 rows because of a boo-boo so that put me further behind. I had to crochet my little fingers to the bone, but managed to get it done and mailed in time for my son to get it on Christmas Eve.

It's a simple crochet shell pattern done in four colors that I adapted from a baby blanket at LionBrand.com. It had a striking effect done in white, light gray, dark gray and black. It doesn't show as well in the photo, but because of the puff of the shell, two colors are more prominent on one side than the other, making it almost reversible.

Now I need another project!

  6. Wow! The afghan is beautiful, and being a crocheter myself, I can see how much time and work went into it. Very, very impressive. Oh, and the color combination is fabulous! Great job!
