WIP Wednesday - Stash Buster

I gave you a glimpse the other day of two other UFO (unfinished objects) that I was tearing apart to try to make something better.

I started with the variegated/striping yarn from Hobby lobby in shades of dark blue, medium blue, gray and tan, and paired it with a medium blue in a solid.

I worked up a small swatch and liked the resulting color

... so kept going and now it looks like this.

It's a basic granny square shawl that was inspired by this blog. I love the way the colors complement each other, not too light nor too dark, but a perfect denim blue.  Since it is worked in two strands, it's fairly stiff and I'm hopeful that it'll soften up after laundering, and it should be really warm.

It's not quite big enough yet but I'm running out of the solid blue yarn.  WalMart didn't have any so with my luck it's been discontinued, so hopefully I'll have enough to finish it off. Can't wait to wear it with my favorite blue jeans!

What're you working on this week?

To play along on Work-in-Progress Wednesday, make your blog post for Wednesday be about something you're working on - some type of craft, renovation project, landscaping, even that novel you're writing. Copy the code below Rosie's picture and paste it into your blog post so that others can follow too, and see the rest of the projects that are posted here.

Make sure to click 'You are next' below to add your name so others can follow it to your blog post.

** Note ** Several of you are signing up at the bottom but you’re not putting the WIP Wednesday link on your own blog. If you don’t, your readers won’t be led back here to see what others are doing and hear what WIP Wednesday is all about. It’s not hard, just copy the code beneath the photo above and paste it into your blog post. If you’re having trouble, please let me know and I’ll try to walk you through it.

  1. I like the shawl. Hope you have enough yarn to finish, I know how hard it can be to buy what you need later.

  2. I think that was a great idea.

(What? I'm worse than you?! Way to make me feel better. I'm hoping someone will post on my blog saying they have MORE yarn than me.) ;-)
