Free Scrap Afghan Crochet Pattern - Stained Glass?

Several have asked me for the pattern for the scrap afghan on yesterday's WIP Wednesday post.  I thought I was going to have to write it up myself with a disclaimer that I wasn't the originator, and if anyone knew who the designer was, to please let me know so I could give proper credit.

Someone is looking out for me, because I found it this morning!  It's a pattern by Dot that she posted on Crochetville.   Here you go!

I love this pattern and think it looks like Tiffany stained glass.  Whatdya think?

(It's not too late to join in on WIP Wednesday.  I keep the links 'live' for a week, until the next Wednesday rolls around).

  1. Thanks! I don't know if I want to tackle something with so many ends to weave in but maybe.... one day.... :)

  3. Thank you!! I am glad you were able to find it. IT looks like such a pretty one to make. The only bad part is all the ends. LOL! But I guess adding an edging and crocheting over the ends would make it easier. :)

  4. This is my favorite afghan pattern. I've made 5 of them over the past several years. I toss ends of yarn skeins into a basket and when i get enough, I start it. As for the ends, I weave them in as I'm working so it's not a big deal. Highly recommend!

  5. I have a question about the pattern before I begin. Row 2 has repeats... but are you doing 4 sc in a row, or just two? It reads as if you'd be ending a repeat with 2 sc, then beginning the next repeat with 2 sc. Any help before I begin would be greatly appreciate! ~Marie~

  6. Do it exactly like it says. The SC and TR will each have three stitches (the peaks and valleys), and the DC and HDC will each have two.

So it ends up with 3 SC, 2 HDC, 2DC, 3 TR working up the hill, then 2 DC, 2 HDC, going down the hill and back to the 3 SC again.

  7. Thanks Marie Anne! It makes sense to me now. I was reading it wrong, so I'm glad I asked before I got started, then wondered what I was doing wrong, ha ha! Your explanation made it all make sense, thanks again!

  8. I have a question, I've started this blanket and got about to row 7 and realized that one side wasn't staying even. I took a look and its around row 4 & 5 that it starts to lose stitches. I've done it over and over again and it keeps ending up the same way. Am I doing something wrong? I've followed the pattern to a t. Any help would be appreciated. Hope you can understand what I'm talking about.

  9. Amber, it sounds like you're not working into the very last stitch, the turning chain.

I didn't write this pattern, but I had no trouble following it.
