I don't often make things for myself, I usually crochet things to sell on Etsy, give to friends or to donate to charity. I hate wearing a coat while driving, and mostly wear a turtleneck and warm sweater, and wanted a scarf to go with my favorite tops. I hate being cold, especially around my neck and shoulders.
I started on this variegated brown scarf back in December and didn't like the way the colors worked up in a pattern. It was almost like two completely different scarves in one (see photo here). I ended up ripping it out and trying again and it worked out much better this time, the colors are more random.
A crochet group I belong to on Etsy has various challenges to spur us on and February's challenge was to make something for yourself, so this is my entry into the wearables category. I suppose it's a good thing that I put the project off until recently or I wouldn't have had anything to enter in the challenge at all! It's a bit late to be making scarves I suppose, but it's still chilly here in Ohio, so I'll get a little wear out of it before putting it away for another season.
I want to make a few more to go with other favorite sweaters and they'll be good projects to work on in the warmer months when I won't want a larger afghan or blanket on my lap.

(Just for you, Mamta!)
This is very pretty how the colors worked out.
ReplyDeleteI like how it turned out!
ReplyDeleteI like how it turned out too. Sometimes it's tough to decide to rip back and start fresh but it's great that it came out in a way you liked better the second time around.
ReplyDeleteI like it too!
