Anyone Else Hate Their Cell Phone Plan?

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Straight Talk. All opinions are 100% mine.

I signed up with my current cell phone plan a few years back when I moved to Ohio because I needed one that worked in the remote area I was in.  I also needed two lines, and at the time, thought I was getting the best deal.

Fast forward a couple of years and I can't wait until this latest contract expires so I can get Straight Talk and forget about contracts.  When my renewal time came up before, I stayed with the same company but just went to a lower service since I don't use my cell phone much, but I'm still losing money on the deal.  I went home to NH last month and guess what?  My plan no longer has free roaming so I had a much larger bill than normal this month.  I don't use texting, but occasionally others will text me and since I don't have free texting with my plan, I'm having to pay even though I don't want to use it.

No more contract cell phones for me.  Straight talk offers everything you need in a cell phone - 1000 talk minutes, 1000 texts and 30 megs of data transfer - all for $30 a month.  Even the unlimited, talk, text and image service is only $45 a month, much less than my current plan.   I can even call a friend in another country for next to nothing with Straight Talk's International Long Distance Service that allows me to call from anywhere, even my home phone.

Hey, mom knows best, right?  I'm stuck for the next two months, but I'll be headed to WalMart for Straight Talk as soon as I can.  I don't need any fancy bells and whistles, so I'll probably take advantage of one of the reconditioned phones that are available for as little as $10.

With all the money I'll be saving, I can buy more yarn - right there at WalMart!

  2. There's a few newer companies here in Canada that are offer really great plans trying to oust the big corps! Cell phone contracts suck. I only use pay-per-use now! But even these have "terms" now!! Gotta take the good with the bad though:)

  3. Is Straight Talk available in all areas though? I went with Alltel because they were the closest tower to home and I could use my phone to call on weekends because it was free. Alltel sold out to Verizon......yea they bite too. But I have to be able to use my phone at home because I have no 'home phone' anymore. I live in the woods.
