Blue and Melon Baby Blanket

Baby blankets have been flying out of here lately, so I decided to start yet another.  This one is similar to the one I made for a friend's online baby shower in November, but I'm using a light blue around the melon green this time.  I think I like the contrast of the darker blue I used on the first baby blanket, but I couldn't find more of the country blue.

Here's how it went:

First, four rounds of Red Heart's Honeydew in a more solid version of a granny square

Honeydew

... then a single row of white to divide the primary colors

Melon and white

... and finished off with four rounds of Red Heart Light Blue.

Light blue for the finish

The squares end up being approx 10" wide, so stitching them together 3x3 then adding a small border, the blanket should end up being 31" or 32" square,  or thereabouts.

I finished seven squares but ran out of the blue, but I've done the green and white to get a head start on the last two squares.  Next trip to town for another skein of the light blue will remedy that fast enough.

Now off to work on yet another blanket that I started since I couldn't finish this one just yet!

To play along on Work-in-Progress Wednesday, make your blog post for Wednesday be about something you're working on - some type of craft, renovation project, landscaping, even that novel you're writing. You can play along even if it’s not Wednesday; I leave each WIP up until the following week. Copy the code below Rosie's picture and paste it into your blog post so that others can follow too, and see the rest of the projects that are posted here.

Make sure to click 'You are next' below to add your link here so my readers can follow it to your blog post.

Note ** Several of you are signing up at the bottom but you’re not putting the WIP Wednesday link on your own blog. If you don’t, your readers won’t be led back here to see what others are doing and what WIP Wednesday is all about. It’s not hard, just copy the code beneath the photo above and paste it into your blog post. If you’re having trouble, please let me know and I’ll try to walk you through it.

  1. I love the colors you choose. I enjoy making squares as it's a one or two night project and then I'm done. It helps me feel a sense of accomplishment.
