Finished Baby Blanket for Cyber Baby Shower

Some writer friends got together and held a cyber baby shower for another friend last month - what fun!  Several of us sent gifts or purchased things from her online gift registries so that she'd get things she really wanted or needed for the baby, then had an online meeting on facebook so that she could open her gifts and share with us. We even played games for prizes.

Of course I had to crochet something.

Another friend paid for the yarn for me to make a blanket, and we bought a few other things too.  Here's the baby blanket I made for her.

I wasn't sure about the color combination at first, but I really like how it turned out.  I wanted to do squares instead of back and forth, because I think it's more colorful, but I didn't want a regular granny square with too many holes.  I came up with an almost solid granny instead, then stitched them together.  I'm pleased with it and will probably do more in a similar pattern, but different colors.

In fact, I think that will be my next project, in between dishcloths.
