New Projects for the Weekend

I was so pleased with being able to do the two simple granny square patterns the other day, that I thought I’d venture further and see what else I might be able to whip up. I definitely caught the granny square bug this weekend!

Spanish Tile in Red Heart Coffee & Turqua

A fellow C’Ville member asked for granny squares in shades of purple for a comfortghan she is putting together for another member, so I figured I’d jump in and do a square or two for that. I tried several other patterns with much frustration and little success, and the yarn was pretty ragged from all the frogging over and over. I did end up with two patterns that I was satisfied with, and here is the result.

The first granny square is Espresso, and the second (two shown) is Fall Square.

After seeing finished projects of darling baby items from C’ville members, I started looking for simple crochet patterns for babies that might be within my level of expertise. I ended up making two little preemie hats last night. Aren’t they the tiniest little things?

Both were very simple - the blue is a basic dc rectangle worked in back loop only, then stitched together and gathered at the top.

The pink is Bev’s Easy Round Baby Hat. I worked the preemie size in pink and then made a simple chain in purple and wove that through the brim row at the bottom, then just made a little circle and tacked that on. I think it looks like something from the 20s - all that's missing is the flapper dress!

I'm going to be looking for more simple baby hat patterns and wish I were talented enough to do a sweater too. I'd love for you to share any super simple patterns for crochet sweaters that you may have.
