Learn to Crochet: Crochet Tips for Beginners

I'm hoping to write a series of articles about crochet that will be helpful to beginners. I've been crocheting for a number of years so it's taking some thought to come up with questions that people might have when first learning to crochet.

If you're new to crochet, what would you like to know?

If you've been crocheting for a while, do you remember what questions you had when you first started?

If you've taught others to crochet, do you have any ideas for article topics that might be helpful to others trying to learn?

Since the articles rely on text, they don't lend themselves well to actually learning how to do various stitches (although I can show a picture or two).

I can also do slideshows like the one shown here. What other ideas would lend themselves well to a slideshow?
