Scrap Afghan Stashbuster for WIP Wednesday

This is another afghan I started at least two years ago and never got back to. Its made up of a single row of black yarn between single rows of every other color you have available. There's no rhyme or reason to it, but I try to alternate the colors so that I don't get too many light or dark colors too close together on the odd rows.

** The pattern can be found here **

Since a row of black yarn is between each other row, I don't use really dark colors on the odd rows (like dark brown or navy), as I don't think they show up well.

I love this simple pattern, but it can be tedious to work with having to change colors every row and also because of the number of ends to tie in.  It's a good project to work on a little here and there whenever you've accumulated scrap bits of yarn, before they start reproducing!

What're you working on?

To play along on Work-in-Progress Wednesday, make your blog post for Wednesday be about something you're working on - some type of craft, renovation project, landscaping, even that novel you're writing. You can play along even if it’s not Wednesday; I leave each WIP up until the following week.   Copy the code below Rosie's picture and paste it into your blog post so that others can follow too, and see the rest of the projects that are posted here.

Make sure to click 'You are next' below to add your link so my readers can follow it to your blog post.

** Note ** Several of you are signing up at the bottom but you’re not putting the WIP Wednesday link on your own blog. If you don’t, your readers won’t be led back here to see what others are doing and what WIP Wednesday is all about. It’s not hard, just copy the code beneath the photo above and paste it into your blog post. If you’re having trouble, please let me know and I’ll try to walk you through it.

  3. Your afghan is beautiful! What a great way to use up your stash... What pattern are you using? With all this yarn I have laying around. LOL! That looks like a great way to use up some of it. :)

  4. @Melissa, I'm not sure where I found the pattern, but it must have been online somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.

If I can't find it to post a link, I'll write it up on a future blog post, and will definitely credit the source if someone can help me figure out where it originated.

  7. I just wanted to say that if you aren't already doing this, you could carry the black from row to row so you wouldn't have to cut it. Just bring it along the rows which are colored and crochet over it. Then it will be ready to use for the next row. It would save having to weave in some of the ends.
