Stash Busters - Mix it Up!

I picked up this gorgeous variegated or striping yarn at Hobby Lobby (their brand, I Love This Yarn) a year or so ago, then really didn't like how it was turning out. The colors are nice, but because it's variegated, you can't really see the pattern of your crochet stitches. I didn't want to waste it, so just set it aside to deal with another time.

I also started something with this pretty blue yarn (I'm sure it was an afghan), but obviously got sidetracked with another project because I found it in my stash with only a few inches completed (I frogged quite a bit before taking this picture).

I wondered how it would look if I did something in two strands, using the variegated blues/tans with the solid blue.

What I got was a totally different look than either of them crocheted alone, and I love it!  I've got quite a bit done on the new project, but you'll have to come back and check it out on WIP Wednesday.

Any guesses what the new project might be?

  1. What a great way to use up your stash, it looks great.
Thanks for your comment on my blog. I sewed the strips together using the wool that was used from either side. I tried to join as I went but it didn't look right.
Hope you have a good weekend.
