More Doilies - Lavender, This Time

I think I've had my fill of granny squares for a while, so I'm back to working on doilies.  I had one of these light purple doilies already done and just needed to finish 2-3 rounds of the second one, and I finished that last night.  They measure approximately 10" across, so are perfect for placing a lamp on, without covering the whole top of an end table.

I still need to wash and starch them, so the photos below show them straight off the hook.  I almost prefer the little ruffled look on the ends, so maybe I'll starch and block one and do one without starch to see which way I like better.

I love this lavender color and picked up quite a bit of it at Joann's a couple of weeks ago, so you'll be seeing more doilies made with this color for sure.

The pattern is called Pink Pineapple and is actually written for a much larger doily, but I opted to only work through round 13 to get the 10" size.  I stopped it before doing the full pineapple, but I'm pleased with how they turned out.

Busy With Custom Orders, Charity, and Etsy Listings

These last few months have been busy ones with hook and yarn.  I'm still making squares and assembling them for comfortghans for the charities we're working with (please join us on Facebook at Hands, Hearts, and Hugs!).

I've also got custom orders to finish, the latest being a baby blanket for a fellow retired Marine friend who is expecting a great-granddaughter.

I've got a couple of things still to list on Etsy, but here are two that I listed yesterday and this morning, one for baby boy, one for baby girl.

The blue/brown blanket is from my own Almost Reversible Baby Blanket pattern.  You can see that it's lighter on one side than the other.  The pink variegated is simple granny squares edged and then joined with milk chocolate yarn in a somewhat decorative method that I devised myself.  I'll have to figure out how to write it up and get good photos so that I can share that at a later date.

I've still got a beautiful green shamrock afghan to list on eBay to benefit our charities.  Watch for that soon.

More later ... must get my fingers busy!

Almost Reversible Baby Blanket in Pinks and Browns

I finished this latest Almost Reversible Baby Blanket the other day and am really pleased with how it turned out.  I love the pinks and browns together, and of course how it's lighter on one side than the other.

More photos and the link to the pattern on my Ravelry page.  While there, make sure to look around to see what else I've got posted!

I haven't decided whether I'll sell this blanket on Etsy, or save it to give to my first grandbaby who will be two weeks old tomorrow.

Gorgeous Afghan Up for Grabs

SOLD

I finished this colorful afghan quite a while ago and it's been sitting in my closet going to waste.  I absolutely love the colors, but I'm not pleased with how the edges turned out, so I'm reluctant to list it on Etsy for sale.

Since it's doing no good to anyone by sitting in my closet, I decided I'd offer it to my friends for whatever someone is willing to pay for it, plus shipping. Packaged weight is just under 4lbs so will cost between $7 and $16 to ship, depending on your location.

It measures approximately 57" x 77" and as you can see by this picture, it covers the top of a queen sized bed.  It would probably fit nicely on a full sized bed with just a little drape on the sides, or of course you can use it as a large throw to drape over your sofa.

This afghan can be machine washed and dried, and has been washed and rinsed with eco-friendly fabric softener so is ready for use.

If you're interested, leave a comment with your offer or send email if you'd rather make your offer privately. Highest offer today (March 16) takes it.  I won't be insulted by any offer, so toss something out there and maybe you'll get lucky.  I'd just like to be able to recoup some of the cost of the yarn and see it be used rather than taking up space in my craft room.

Shutting this down ... congrats to Emily Henderson, the lucky new owner of this afghan!
