Free Yarn Giveaway from Yarn Crush

Yarn_Crush.com

Who doesn't want free yarn?  I haven't been crocheting as much lately because I'm still displaced from Hurricane Florence and don't have most of my supplies with me, so I'd love to win some!  Yarn Crush is having a contest to give away over $300 worth of yarn and other free goodies and I've got my entry in, and you can enter too by clicking Yarn Crush Woolentine's Day Giveaway.

Make sure to visit Yarn Crush to subscribe to their newsletter, or sign up for a subscription of their yummy yarns to be delivered right to your door, or to give as a gift to a favorite person in your life who knits or crochets.  Each box will contain some hand-dyed yarn, the current issue of their magazine with free patterns, and one other fiber art-related goodie.  Everyone likes to get fun surprise boxes in the mail, right?

Have you ever dyed your own yarn?   I'm not that brave, but I do drool over some of the beautiful yarns that others have dyed.  Once I learn more about it, maybe I'll try it one day.

~ Marie Anne

P.S.  When you sign up for the newsletter, you'll receive a code for $12 off your first box!

Amazon Gift Card Giveaway Ended - And the Winner is ...

The contest for the $5 amazon gift card has ended, and the winner has been chosen.  Congratulations to Shawn Lealos for being chosen as the winner of the gift card!

Since this blog is craft stuff and mostly crochet, I don't have much of a male following here, so I think it's great that Shawn was the token male who entered and he was chosen as the winner.

The winner of the amazon.com gift card was chosen at random by rafflecopter from everyone that left a comment on the blog post, whether they were the closest to guessing the correct number of granny squares in the stacks pictured or not.  Since the contest was about guessing the number of squares, I've decided to give another $5 prize to the person who came closest, and that person is Kathleen Colegrove, who guessed that the stack contained 40 granny squares.

Even she wasn't very close, though.  I had made 54 granny squares up to the point where I started the contest, and that's how many were pictured in the photo.  Since then, I've crocheted several dozen more, and I've lost count!

There were a total of 54 granny squares stacked here

Shawn and Kathleen, I'll be contacting you privately about where to send your prizes.

Thanks, everyone, for taking part in this fun contest! I'll definitely be doing more giveaways in the future.

Amazon gift card giveaway - Guess how many granny squares!

I've been trying to clean out some of my yarn stash so I've been busy making granny squares that I'll donate to Hands, Hearts, and Hugs - an organization I started a year or so ago that puts comfort-ghans together to send to people in need of a hug.  I've crocheted a good number of granny squares in the last three days, and it doesn't even look like I made a dent in my craft closet!

Do you want a chance to win a $5 Amazon.com gift card?  Make a guess as to how many granny squares I've made so far that are shown in the photo above.  You don't have to guess the correct number, but you do have to make a comment with your guess in order to be eligible to win. You can earn more entries by liking my Facebook Page, The Crooked Yarn, tweeting about the giveaway, and by visiting my Etsy shop.

The contest will run through midnight on February 20, 2014, and the winner will receive the code for the $5 Amazon gift card within 24 hours of contest end.  Entries from all countries are eligible to win, but the code will be for amazon.com and might not be able to be redeemed in all countries.

Enter now, and come back and get more entries for Tweeting every day!

Free Yarn Contest from Red Heart and AllFreeKnitting on Pinterest

Red Heart is joining up with AllFreeKnitting and sponsoring a contest to give away a prize package full of yarn, knitting needles, tote bag, and a slew of other goodies.  To enter, create a board on Pinterest for free knit patterns from Red Heart, then repin at least 10 patterns that Red Heart has on their board, and fill out the short entry form on the contest page.

One entry per person and must be at least 18 years old to enter.  Contest ends at midnight on May 8, 2013 so get your entry in, then share with all of your crafty friends.

Even if you don't win, you're bound to find some cool new patterns to try.  I saw several pretty knitted shawl  patterns, and while I don't knit as much as I crochet,  I might just have to break out the knitting needles and see what I can whip up.

Free Yarn and Scissors Giveaway

What fun colors for spring!  Lion Brand is giving away 5 skeins of Vanna's Choice Baby Yarn in great colors, and they're also throwing in two pair of Fiskars scissors -- one pair for the house, and one small folding scissor to put in your tote bag to take with you.  Good scissors are expensive, so this is a great prize, one that I'd like to win for sure.

Contest ends April 30, 2013, so head on over there now before you forget.  Must be 18 yrs or older to enter, and living in a country where Lion Brand will ship (list at the link above).

What would you make with the yarn if you won?  I'd make a colorful baby blanket, of course!

Lion Brand Free Yarn Giveaway

The folks over at FaveCrafts have teamed up with Lion Brand for a cool yarn giveaway today to celebrate National Craft Month in March.  Head over to this post to share your favorite afghan pattern, 'like' the two pages on Facebook and be entered to win two skeins of every color of Lion Brand's kitchen cotton yarn.

I'd love to win this, as I'm currently on a dishcloth-making frenzy for a craft fair I have coming up next month, and most people I polled said they prefer the bright colors as opposed to neutrals.  Two skeins of every color they make would be an awesome prize to win!

While there, you can also download the free eBook they're offering with 25 favorite crafts.  Hurry, because this contest ends tonight, March 6, 2013!

A new prize will be given away every day in March.  Click here to see what the current prize of the day is.

Free Yarn of the Month Giveaway

Red Hearts sponsors a yarn of the month giveaway and during the month of October,  they're giving away Celebration, an acrylic yarn with just a bit of metallic thread woven in to give it a festive look.  Red Heart Celebration yarn comes in several bright and cheery colors that should be fun to knit or crochet with.

The winner will be chosen in a random drawing on November 1, 2012.  This giveaway is valued at $60, so head on over now to enter before the month gets away from you.

The contest rules say you'll get an email from Red Heart and must fill out a survey to complete your entry.  It's not a long survey that asks for personal information; it simply asks how much money you spend on yarn.  Easy peasy!

Knit Spa Cloths and a Secret Preview

This week I'm working on getting the spa cloths done that were part of the giveaway that ended the other day.  Linda Ann chose her cloths to be knit out of a pretty variegated cotton yarn in various shades of olive green and ecru, with a touch of teal thrown in.

Knit Spa Cloths for the Bath Giveaway

I love the dishcloths that I knit and crochet and I have some that I use for the bath too.  I decided to do a plain garter stitch cloth in a bit larger size than I usually make my dishcloths and will making more to list in my Etsy store as spa cloths, for the face or bath/shower.

I finished one in pale yellow that I used the other day and oh my, I love the feel on my face.  So soft, yet still strong and sturdy if you want to do some scrubbing.  Before listing them for sale, I'm offering two cloths plus some hand blended natural soap and lotion from a friend as a Spa Giveaway.

Ripples Galore!

I'm still not working on any particular project this week with so much else going on, but I'll probably tackle a new ripple of some sort soon.  Why?

Because I won an awesome book of ripple patterns from Jocelyn over at Cute Crochet Chat!

I love a good ripple as they're so easy and versatile, but can also be repetitive.  When I saw this giveaway, I knew I had to have this pattern book.  Thanks so much for this contest, Jocelyn.  I love this book!

Please take a minute to visit with Jocelyn at Cute Crochet Chat and see what else she's got going on for us hookers.  There's another giveaway going on right now!

Want to add this book to your own crochet pattern library? Here it is on amazon.com.

Who Wants Free Pizza? Bonus Cheese Tray/Cutting Board

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of FRESCHETTA®. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was recently given a coupon to try out FRESCHETTA® Simply…Inspired™ pizza and offer my opinion to my readers (with a bonus bamboo cutting board to giveaway too!)  I tried two different varieties - Hawaiian Style and Southern BBQ Recipe Chicken - and loved them both.  The thin crust makes for a smaller, less filling pizza, but had as much flavor as what you might find in a pizza that is thicker and meatier.

You can read my specific review of each of them by clicking on that variety in the links above. There are a total of eight varieties and since I enjoyed these two, I'll likely be trying others.

Head over to Facebook and 'like'  FRESCHETTA Simply Inspired and follow FreschettaSI on Twitter and watch for other great deals and coupons.

In addition to my own pizza and cutting board, I was given a duplicate to give to one of my readers as well.  Both review links are also contests for a coupon for a free Freschetta Simply Inspired Pizza of your choice along with an awesome bamboo cheese tray/cutting board.  The Hawaiian Style review and giveaway ends May 15 and the Southern BBQ review and giveaway ends May 22, so head on over to get your entries in. The coupon is good for any one of the eight varieties of pizza.  Which one do you want to try?

WIP Finished and Giveaway Wrap-Up

Last week I posted about this granny square I was working on and I was able to finish it the other day. I love this color combination; it's all Red Heart yarn and I believe the colors are Country Blue, Raspberry and Aran. I added a few rows of SC to finish it off and I'm pleased with the way it turned out.

I need to get it (and other things) listed on Etsy and try to make some sales.

This week I need to finish up a lapghan that I'm doing with this pattern in light sage.

Don't forget that my contest for the $10 Amazon gift card ends tonight (3/23) so make sure to get your entries in! I'll be drawing the name of the winner on Thursday.

Want to keep track of other giveaways out there? Check out Giveaway Scout.

Craft Book Giveaway

While looking for giveaways to feature on one of my other blogs this morning, I came across Stitch Tac Sew, a blog dedicated to all sorts of fiber crafts.  Nikki, the blog owner, is giving away a free craft book each Monday.

I missed out on last week's giveaway because she closes out entries on Friday evening, but you can bet I'll be headed for her blog Monday morning to see what she's giving away next!

Keep an eye on this blog for more crafty giveaways, coupons, sales and freebies.  I'm planning my own contest soon, and trying to think of something unique to give away.  If I do, what type of things would you like to see offered?  Crochet books, pattern books, crochet hooks, yarn, gift certificates ... what?
